I recently started a new mini collection, Game used or Patch cards for HOF'ers. I started with 31
and have added 22 in the past month. Two were COMC purchases and the rest have been trades
on TCDB.
A little history on Patch cards. Press Pass started the trend in 1995 with Tire pieces on Racing cards
from cars. Next were Upper Deck starting in 96-97 Hockey and baseball in 1997. The three UD
baseball cards were Griffey, Gwynn and Ordonez. Here are a couple of my recent acquisitions.
The older the player, the tougher to find and the cost rises.

Being a life long Tigers fan, this is my 22nd different Skubal rookie.
Nice cards! National cards go back to the early 80s. I have a Larry Doby card from an early National.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I've got some from the 5th National which I attended here in NJ. They were not affiliated with any manufacturer and featured the players who were autograph guests at the show.

ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed watching Strahm's YT channel when he was a Padre and he'd go to different ballparks to open packs. I like that HOF relic project. I used to actively collect relics, but there's only so much money I can spend on the hobby... so I've cut back a lot in recent years. But I did pick one up on Saturday at the flea market.
