Sunset Cards, Part 2

I posted a few weeks ago about non-Topps HOF'ers Sunset cards in the 50's and 60's.   In
1965 O Pee Chee started producing cards mostly similar to Topps.  Early O Pee Chee has various card numbers produced, so unless the HOF'er was in the first 200 or so numbers, they did not have a Sunset O Pee Chee card.  In 1971 O Pee Chee and Topps both produced sets of 792.  The very next year, 1972,  O Pee Chee only printed to number# 525 so both Hoyt Wilhelm, 777 and Bill Mazeroski, 760, did not have O Pee Chee Sunset cards.  In the years 1973 - 1976 both Topps and O Pee Chee had equal number of cards.  Beginning in 1977 and lasting through 1989, O Pee Chee had fewer cards in their sets compared to Topps.   The early 90's, 90, 91 and 92, were equal in cards.  93 and 94 O Pee
Chee sets were different cards entirely than the Topps brand.

Kellogg's started their cards in 1970 and in 1971 Ernie Banks had a Kelloggs Sunset card.  SSPC made by TCMA(see Below) began production in 1975 with a Sample set of 18 and another set of 42.
this set of 42 has a Sunset card of Al Kaline.

Other 1975 HOF'ers with different Sunset cards
include Bob Gibson

1975 Hostess

1975 Sheraton

1976 HoF'ers with non-Topps cards

1976 SSPC Harmon Killebrew

and Frank Robinson also with a SSPC card.

O Pee Chee did have Sunset cards of both Lou Brock and Catfish Hunter in 1979.

In Addition to the O Pee Chee of Hunter, Burger King also made a 1979
card with the only difference being the number on the back of the card.

Burger King #6, O Pee Chee #352 and Topps #670

The 80's begin with another different non-Topps Sunset Card

1981 TCMA

The rest of the 80's will be in a future post.
